A little About Me!

Hello! I'm Sandra, an industrial engineer specialized in Mechatronics, with a strong background in mechanical design and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges.

I hold a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Electronics and Automation, and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology Engineering with a specialization in Mechanics. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on multidisciplinary projects across the aerospace and renewable energy sectors.

Currently, I work at Airbus Defence and Space as a metallic structures analysis engineer. My role involves structural stress analysis, design definition, modification approval, and close collaboration with manufacturing engineering for the MRTT (Multi Role Tanker Transport) program and its derivatives.

This is me

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

My engineering journey began in university, where I joined the Formula Student team. There, I learned to design and manufacture racing vehicle components, gaining hands-on experience and a solid foundation in teamwork and practical design.

Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to grow through a series of roles:

  • Microdeco (Intern) – Quality Department: Led parts approval efforts, improving workflow efficiency and technical reporting.
  • Altran (Intern) – Contributed to the structural design of an air taxi prototype.
  • SENER Aeroespacial – Designed space mechanisms and completed the preliminary design of a fluid transfer system, which was presented to ESA.
  • Siemens Gamesa – Supported actuation systems in wind turbine manufacturing, resolving technical issues on-site.
  • Airbus Defence and Space – First as a mechanical design engineer in fuel systems, nowas a metallic structures analysis engineer in defense aviation.

Beyond engineering, I am also deeply involved in the IEEE community. I currently serve as President of the IEEE Student Branch and President-Elect of the IEEE-HKN Nu Alpha Chapter, a prestigious honor society that promotes academic and professional excellence.
